    Next Generation Wing

    The Osprey

The OSPREY offers intuitive power control. Simply said the wings are fun whether you Skateboard, Ski, Snowboard, SUP, Windsurf or Foil board. The key focus of the Osprey is to have a Wing that is easy to handle. With its stiff frame providing a stable platform, the power delivery is excellent when pumping with the Wing. By finely tuning the leading edge diameter specifically for each size Wing allows for rapid lift and acceleration which raises you up onto the foil sooner.

    Osprey Description

Our key focus with the Osprey was to design a Wing that is easy to handle. With this in mind, we wanted to excel on downwinders and waves riding. A stiff frame provides a stable platform, giving excellent power delivery when pumping. The rapid lift and acceleration lifts you up and onto the foil sooner. This has been achieved by finely tuning the leading edge diameter specifically for each size. The medium aspect ratio and rounded wingtips keep the wing out the water and in the air, while giving a light flying sensation.

Multiple handles offer intuitive hand placement on any tack. We’ve spent a lot of time getting the handles positioned perfectly. The handles themselves are constructed out of a UHMWPE cover with soft internal cushioning. The Handles are carefully placed and sized to allow for easy transitions. The front handle is spaced and sized to prevent overflying when transitioning, resulting in perfect control of the wing. We have incorporated harness loops on the handles for those wishing to use a harness.

A handle on the leading edge offers easy handling if the wing becomes inverted, or for holding the wing in a wind neutral position. The small Y handles are placed to control the Yaw when jumping or when lifting up the wing from the water when launching. The Dihedral angle has been further refined to give and better airflow and canopy tension. This results in a much tighter canopy profile. We have improved the wind range dramatically of the wing.

    Geometry

We spent a large amount of time on the geometry of the leading edge and the canopy. The combination of tension and variable angles across the leading edge allowed us to construct a stable profile in all wind conditions. We reduced the  V-shape in the first two segments gives better tension.  which then gets smoothed out to the sides, making the wing agile and stable. This stability comes to the forefront when flagging the wing and is a crucial control factor.

We also adjusted the leading edge diameter per segment and per size to a specific diameter. Then we developed and new split strut construction. The seam is placed on the apex of the leading edge fairing out towards the tips.  The inside of the seam is reinforced a UHMWPE  yarn. This increased the durability and supports the geometry of the wing.
We also introduced and specific leading-edge construction which takes the specific textile expansion and stresses of a wing into consideration.

This reduces the chance of a leading-edge blow out as the seams are supported with enough material not to damage the textile. We recommend that you inflate all our wings to 8 PSI.  This pressure reduces the negative flex of the wing which reduces panel to collapse. The direct result is a crisp and fast power delivery when pumping and maintaining control when over powered.

    Windows
Large Windows provide an optimal view of your surroundings. The Windows are cut into the profile and improve the safety while on the water.

    Strudt and Handles

The handle is really the cockpit from where your input directly affects the wing flight. Our brief was to make this as comfortable and user friendly as possible. To keep you in flight-mode as long and as comfortable as possible by reducing hand and arm fatigue over time. There is a lot of energy transfer happening here so we wanted to cushion your hands and wrists.

We have worked through countless samples to come up with the right-hand placements, the right grip texture, the right density and the ideal width and stiffness while keeping weight to an absolute minimum. Our cushion effect achieves this, making the Osprey the most comfortable wing currently on the market whilst offering a smoother ride.

Our intuitive hand placements make those transitions easier while the cushion effect keeps you on the water for longer due to less hand and arm fatigue. The mini Y handle controls the yaw when picking the wing up form the water. The Y is also key for entry-level riders down wing riding when holding the Y handle you get a little more active input into the wing. This particularly helpful in tough conditions or for newbies.

    Stock Dimensions :

    Shape :

    – Medium Dihedral Angel with a higher angle in the centre of the wing. Providing more geometric support and better power delivery.
    – Medium aspect ratio, making it a good allrounder and entry-level wing
    – The Centre strut has got a negative angel. This Negative angel on the backhand gives a more active control and greatly benefits switch riding.
    – The Wingtips are positions to reduce water strike

    Specifications:

    – Leading-edge and shaped inflatable Center Strut.
    – 3 UHMWPE Handles on the smaller sizes and 4 on the large wings.
    – Leash Attachment point.
    – Pushpin inflate and deflate valve.
    – PVC windows
    – Extruded E Glass Battens on trailing edge.
    – Integrated UHMWPE trailing edge reinforcement.
    – Chafing cover for all valves
    – Reinforce Window seam manufacturing.

    Buying Guide:

    For whom?

Designed for entry-level and around riding the osprey is the prefect all-round wing.
Starting you off in the sport and providing a good platform for progression.
The Large sizes deliver a considerable amount of power in light wind and the smaller sizes are designed to provide confidence in harsh conditions.

    For What?

The Osprey excels in downwind riding and loves flat water jumping. The Profile is developed to be stable enough for a flight path during transitions.

    What Sizes?

Most people start with a 4,7 or a 5,2 these wings are in the middle of the wind range.
Meaning that you will be able to ride it in light wind and get to know how a wing preforms in strong winds.

    Leash

The wings will be delivered with a leash.

    With or Without Harness?

We have provided the hanging points for harnesses lines. We found that people who love to cruise long stretches love harnesses. If you are into manoeuvring and lots of agile manoeuvres then you might wings and harness a little cumbersome. Having said this the there is no wrong and right there is a what you enjoy.

    Equipment:

    – Duffel bag Design for easy packing lightweight offering good protection.
    – Canopy repair tape and valve replacement tool
    – Safety hand leash
